Saint Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland, and has a beloved holiday named after him.
Saint Patrick’s journey to Ireland began when he was kidnapped and enslaved as a teen. After years of slavery, he escaped only to return later as a Christian Missionary.
Soon thereafter, Saint Patrick came to be known as the father of Christianity in Ireland. Legend has it he used thee three leaf clover as a metaphor to explain the Trinity.
A celebration of Irish culture and heritage takes place on March 17th, thee anniversary of St. Patrick’s death. The holiday has been celebrated for over 1,000 years.
