Have you seen the smoke in the air recently? The two largest active wildfires in the US have burned land the size of New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago combined.
Drought and extreme heat continue to drive these fires. In California, the Dixie fire has burned nearly 250k acres, threatening 10,000 structures, and has displaced 8,000 people.
The largest fire in the country right now is the Bootleg fire in Oregon. It has burned nearly 415k acres and destroyed over 400 structures.
The economic cost of these fires hasn’t been calculated yet, but will certainly be immense. Our thoughts and prayers are with the first responders battling these blazes, and with those who have been displaced.
